Think about when you were a child. Do you have a great deal of memories of your childhood? Most of the memories I retained are those that involved exceptional events or emotions. You may feel the same way. Those memories are seared into our brains and we recall them with great clarity and vision – as if they happened just yesterday.

That’s why I’ve chosen to take some of the intense memories I have of my childhood and share them with children. I believe those powerful events – the ones that stick with us throughout adulthood – are universal. They somehow can belong to everyone even though not experienced in person.

Hence the five children’s story books I am creating: “when I was kid….”

The next one to be published is CAKE! and it occurred when I was embarrassed by the kind of cake my mother brought to my grammar school bake sale.

FLOWERS! relates how I completely cleaned out a neighbor’s flower garden and the consequences for doing so

CROW! is a longer tale about a pet crow my family owned.

And finally DOG! About our special dog, Rusty.

These are real-life stories with real-life endings. Not everything in life ends up “happily ever after” and I believe there is a more universal honesty to non-fiction stories.

Please see if you agree. Thank you for your patronage.
